Why Cookies?

I grew up making baking chocolate chip cookies with my mom. I remember being young and sitting on the counter next to her as the official taste tester. I remember getting old enough to help pour things into the bowl and I remember finally being old enough to completely make them by myself. I loved it. My easy bake oven was a favorite toy for years because it let me make things without needing any adult help 🙂

I also fondly remember making sugar cookies every Christmas. Years ago, I attempted to make yummy sugar cookies and to put it mildly, was unimpressed with my results. Those dismal results sent me searching the internet for a better recipe and something beyond the simple (though delicious and fun) way I decorated cookies growing up. Many videos, blogs, cookies, and a couple of random cakes later, I find myself able to make yummy treats people enjoy and that bring a smile. I still have a lot to learn, but as I continue this journey I wanted to bring you along and show you some of the things I’ve learned so far.

When I make decorated cookies, there are three things I often hear from people. “I don’t know how you do this, I never could.” “I wish I could make these myself” and “Wow! They actually taste good.” The latter is all about finding a good recipe. For the former, I say that with time, patience, and persistence, you absolutely could make them yourself (though it’s completely ok to decide you’d rather not and just eat the ones I make).

Stick around for tips, tricks, tutorials, pretty cookies pictures, and opportunities to buy ones I make!

I made these pretty little cookies several years ago. They’re probably me favorite color combination I’ve ever done.
